Short Courses at Fircroft College

Enrolling on short courses at Fircroft College can help you achieve your personal and career goals, improve your skills and confidence and fulfil your true potential.

What makes Fircroft different from most other colleges is that all courses are residential. You will benefit from being immersed in a friendly and supportive learning environment, away from the stresses of everyday life. Class sizes are small, there is a high proportion of staff to learners and everyone has access to one-to-one support, advice and guidance. Most courses last just three days and are designed to fit a lot of learning into a short space of time. The quality of learning experience has been recognised by Ofsted, who awarded Fircroft straight grade one (‘outstanding’) marks in every area during its last inspection.

The residential experience

Fircroft College is located in a former Cadbury family home, set in 6 acres of beautiful and peaceful gardens. Recent redecoration and refurbishment of the historic Edwardian main building, means the College now looks better than ever.

All courses are residential and require you to stay overnight at the College. Being in residence while you study at Fircroft is an important part of the learning experience. You have a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse network of people in an open and friendly learning community, without being distracted by home or work pressures and without having to travel back and forth at the end of each day.

All bedrooms are on-campus – none are shared and most have en-suite facilities and views of the gardens. The College is a secure environment and there is on-site night support available.

The dining room is the heart and soul of the college – kitchen staff are dedicated to providing a wide choice of delicious meals, catering to differing tastes.

Facilities

The College’s teaching centre was opened in 2005.  Teaching rooms are bright and spacious with up-to-date ICT facilities (classroom pcs, ceiling mounted projectors and cameras, wi-fi access). There is also a loop system for the hard of hearing. Our library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Students can also make use of a quiet/prayer room and a recreation room with pool table, darts and TV/DVD.

Childcare

The College has a registered childcare centre on-site which is available at weekends, half term and holidays for a limited number of children aged 3 months – 12 years. Please note that places for children at the College are limited and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Disability provision

All teaching rooms are fully accessible and we have a number of specially adapted bedrooms. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure students with a disability are not disadvantaged. Please let us know if you have any specific needs and we will discuss these with you.
