Queen’s birthday honour for Fircroft Principal
Fiona Larden,
Principal of Fircroft College, has been awarded an OBE for
services to adult education in the Queen’s birthday honours,
announced on 13th June.
On hearing the news, Fiona said, “ I am thrilled and very proud
to be given this honour which recognises not just my work but
also the achievements of the staff and students of Fircroft
College. It is particularly special to have this award in our
Centenary Year when we are celebrating 100 years of transforming
people’s lives through adult residential education.”
Prior to taking up her post at the Beacon status college in
1998, Fiona worked for 16 years in higher and community
education, from Strathclyde to London, as well as Birmingham.
She will be travelling to Buckingham Palace to receive her award
from the Queen later this year.
Congratulations Fiona!
