All our achievement rates are well above the national average.  89.5% on our Access to Higher Education Diploma Courses and 94% on other courses.

5 Access students have won the national Helena Kennedy award for the barriers they have overcome.

The proportion of Merits and Distinctions on Access is 47%.

As a result of coming to Fircroft, those who answered the J2 Research survey 2019/2020 agreed their course and the college helped them to:

Pursue their goals and ambitions - 97%

Socialise, work and communicate with others - 89%

Protect themselves on-line and in real life - 6%

Keep themselves physically and mentally well - 92%

Our follow up survey shows:

Of those who gave J2 Research a destination:

25% are now in paid employment

17% are now in further or higher education

9% are now in voluntary work

17 of our 30 current Access to Higher Education students came through our own programmes including Pre-Access.

Nearly all Access to Higher Education achievers progress straight to university, usually to their first choice.

96% of student would recommend Fircroft, which made us the Top College in the Midlands for Student Satisfaction in 2019 (FE Choices)

J2 Research found that 88% of the students agreed that the information, advice and guidance offered by the college had helped them discover their goals and understand the learning paths to achieve them.

76% thought their course was relevant to what they are doing now and 89% thought the course was relevant to their future career path

Half our students are referred here and by 99 different agencies:

35% from Drugs and Alcohol Recovery

15% from Mental Health services

18% from Supported Housing

10% from Employment services

Additional support was provided on 81 of our courses   

65% of students have a disability or learning difficulty

33% are over 50 years old

On average, there is a 50:50 split men and women

43% are Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic

59% are from the most deprived wards

We run 182 residential short courses and 2 Access to Higher Education Diploma courses every year.

34% of short courses are English, Maths or IT.  

29% are Personal Development.

27% are directly work-related.
