The Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching and is a non-residential course. It replaces PTLLS as the threshold qualification for anyone wanting to teach in the Further Education and skills sector. It is a knowledge based qualification so there is no teaching practice requirement. 

The AET covers the key knowledge and skills required by teachers and trainers:

  • The roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Inclusive teaching and learning approaches
  • Assessment of learners
  • Facilitating learning and development for individuals
  • Facilitating learning and development in groups

What is the course level?

Level 3

What is the course duration?

The AET is taught at Fircroft College on a non-residential basis over 5 days. Mondays and Tuesday are 9am to 5pm. Wednesdays are 9am to 1pm.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. To succeed on AET you will need:

English and IT skills to read and interpret written answers in a legible and understandable form

What is the cost?

AET costs £395.

This is fully inclusive of City and Guilds registrations, teaching and assessment, tutorials, materials, refreshments and lunch. If you want to stay as a residential student, we may be able to accomodate you for an additonal costs.

No reductions or loans are available for AET. You can talk to us about paying in instalments, although we cannot guarantee this.
