Part-time residential at the college and online 

This course enables you to learn, develop and practice the higher level skills required for employment in the lifelong learning support sector and is for practitioners or anyone interested in becoming a learning support practitioner. This course is also for other professionals who have learning support as a small part of their wider role. 

The key areas we cover are:

  • The importance of learning and support. How you help people achieve their goals. Different contexts. How to work with learners and others. Policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Values and principles. How to be inclusive in the way you work and encourage independent learning. The importance of communication, English, Maths and digital skills
  • How to support learning. Your responsibilities and contribution to a learning programme. How you can address needs every stage. The activities and resources you can use to engage and motivate.
  • Evaluating and improving your practice. Identify your strengths and further development needs and how these could be addressed.

Split across 3 residential stays and online

Full awards at level 3 or above cost from £0-£100 depending on your income

Entry Requirements

You can achieve the Award before having a learning support role.

You do need Level 2 or above Literacy skills and good IT skills.
