This course looks at what it takes to become self-employed and what some of the challenges and benefits are.

Do you want to grow a successful business? Do you want to attract more customers? Are you keen to achieve specific goals, such as securing a loan or winning a new contract?

We will give you the basics of business planning - a good business plan can help attract the investment you need and give you a clear overview of the challenges you may face when building your own business including some of the legal considerations and opportunities and barriers to running your own business.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

• Understand what it means to be self employed
• Be aware of some of the legal and financial requirements for being self-employed
• Know the opportunities and also the barriers of being self-employed

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Level 1 literacy and have a strong business idea in mind and an enthusiasm to find out how to get started with it.
