Level 2

This qualification allows you to develop and demonstrate an understanding of digital literacy skills helping you potentially progress to a work role where these skills are required. The objectives of this qualification are to ensure you can:

  • Understand how to protect digital devices and data
  • Communicate socially and professionally using technology
  • Apply digital skills in personal and business situations
  • Use digital resources to facilitate career progression

Activities involved in this qualification and software programmes you will gain expertise in include:

  • Leaflet/brochure creation in Microsoft Publisher
  • Interactive presentation creation in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Research writing in Microsoft Word
  • Using and creating professional emails for employment
  • Using social media to communicate to others
  • Creating a professional online social media profile and use this to enhance job opportunity
  • Creating an online blog
  • Developing and holding an online professional video meeting in Microsoft Teams and Zoom

By learning and using all of these digital skills and new software programmes you could gain progression to employment as you will have enhanced your digital skills set, as well as potentially being able to progress on to a level 3 course.

This course is not for absolute beginners in IT. You will need to be familiar with general digital devices and using software.  Training will be provided in IT skills used at work, such as word processing, presentations, web searching, social media, online interaction and online safety

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Level 1 literacy level or above.

All students will be given an appropriate assessment prior to joining to see what support you might need if you are successfully enrolled onto the course.

You will be provided with a college laptop while you are at the college only and it would be advantageous but not essential if you have your own laptop to use at home for independent study.
