This course is ideal if you are hoping to enrol onto one of our Access to Higher Education diplomas this September, or you plan to apply for our Academic and Career Skills Programme starting in January 2026, and is a great foundation for people applying for our Access to Higher Education Diplomas in September 2025.
This course will help you to develop the academic skills needed for further study programmes that require extended assignments and you will learn how to break down assignment briefs into manageable plans of action as well as develop the research and referencing skills needed for success.
The course includes:
- Research skills – how to find and assess materials for reliability along with accurate referencing using the Harvard method
- Learning how to interpret assessment objectives to help you to plan essays
- Identifying appropriate research materials in response to a task
- Producing a clear and comprehensive essay plan
- Demonstrating accurate referencing
Entry Requirements
You must be working at Level 1 Literacy, or above
