Level

Level 2

This course introduces you to the use of logic and critical thinking for study and includes how to assess information for implicit meaning and bias, evaluate ideas in a rational way, and explore our own cognitive bias.

This course provides a useful introduction for students considering studying Level 3 courses such as our Access to Higher Education Diplomas, our Pre-Access programme or other academic courses.

You will be introduced to a range of information both textual and visual, and will apply critical reasoning for assessment.  You will also learn how to navigate a world of “fake news” and “echo chambers” by applying the skills you learn on this course to everyday life and any future study.

The course will help you to understand the importance of approaching information in a critical way, and will help you to demonstrate the skills needed to evaluate ideas rationally.
