Who makes decisions about what happens in society? How are these decisions made? This course will look at what politics means, including questions about how political ideas are part of the way we live and the opportunities we are given. The course will also involve looking at examples of different political systems and thinking about the ways that power can be organised in society. We will compare the ideas and values that different political parties have and think about how issues can be seen from different political perspectives. We will explore the way the UK election system works, and debate current issues such as the right to vote, as well as considering the role of protest in its different forms.
We will develop critical questions to ask about our everyday experiences Overall, this course will help you to explore the ways that politics and power impact on everyday life.
