Level

Level 3

This course is ideal if you have a keen interest in IT, computing or programming and you want to work preferably in an IT related industry and you already have an IT based level 2 qualification. However, if you do not have an IT based Level 2 qualification you may still be enrolled onto the course depending on your experience and IT knowledge.

This course includes 2 units:

  1. Principles of ICT system and data security
  2. Requirements analysis and systems specification

Unit 1 shows us the basic principles of ICT systems about how they run as well as data security measures they are able to implement. 

Unit 2 helps us understand the hardware and software development lifecycle used in industry for projects. 

Key learning within this course: 

  • Planning for customer requirements 
  • Creating design specifications 
  • Implementing software lifecycle procedures 
  • understanding the principles of ICT and data security methods and techniques used. 

Upon completion of the course you will achieve a Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles which also holds 8 UCAS points.

Entry Requirements

Ideally you will have a Level 2 IT qualification. If you do not have a qualification, you may still be able to apply for the course if you are working at Level 2 IT.

Upon completion of the course you can apply for employment within the IT industry, apply for apprenticeships within IT, use the 8 UCAS points provided as a base to progress on to other college courses or as a contribution towards university.
