We have digital skills courses to suit many abilities.  Our courses are for people who want to become more confident with technology or want to further improve their IT skills and seek employment and we also have courses for people who may be looking to improve their technical knowledge within the workplace.


Fircroft College Digi Labs Courses

The Digi Labs courses are well-recognised by employers and are perfect for people who are seeking work in a digital skills function and want to achieve a professional qualification.  The courses can also be for those in work who are looking to improve their career opportunities. Those looking to undertake the Digi Labs courses need to have completed a relevant beginner’s course and/or have appropriate experience, along with basic computer knowledge and skills.

Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) - Infrastructure

Microsoft Entry Level

Non residential

The MTA is the essential first step for any individual looking to pursue a successful career in IT. Microsoft’s certification program is straightforward and helps students acquire the technology skills they need to be successful in careers with IT. The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) is an entry-level IT professional certification from Microsoft that covers a range of IT qualifications including understanding IT Infrastructure.

Digi Labs Tech Cafe - (MTA part time)

The Digi Labs - Tech Cafe gives students the opportunity to become a Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA). The Digi Labs – Tech Cafe runs every Tuesday evening 7.00pm to 9.00pm.  The MTA is an intensive course and if students can only attend the Tech Cafe and not the full daytime course, they will need to undertake a significant amount of self study and project work to achieve the qualification.

People are also welcome to attend the Tech Café if they are just seeking advice, guidance and support with the MTA and are either seeking employment or are in employment, but do not want to undertake a full qualification.

Digi Labs Design Camp

Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

Non residential

The Digi Labs - Design Camp gives you the opportunity to become an Adobe Certified Associate in Photoshop and/or Ilustrator and/or InDesign over a period of 10 weeks. Through a mixture of lessons, project work and self-study supported by Adobe specialists, you will have the chance to certify with an industry-recognised credential that demonstrates your knowledge and proficiency.

The Digi Labs - Design Cafe gives students the opportunity to become an Adobe Certified Associate (ACA). The Digi Labs – Design Cafe runs every Tuesday evening 7.00pm to 9.00pm.  The ACA is an intensive course and if students can only attend the Design Cafe and not the full daytime course, they will need to undertake a significant amount of self study and project work to achieve the qualification.

People are also welcome to attend the Design Cafe if they are just seeking advice, guidance and support with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign but do not want to undertake a full qualification.

This will upskill students for complex tasks in any workplace. It could also help you make the move into the digital sector, or prove you could take on a higher level digital skills course.  


Introduction to Photoshop 

Level 1 

Part 1 

This course will provide you with the fundamental skills in using Adobe Photoshop.


IT for the Workplace Level 2:  IT Fundamentals 

Level 2

This is a two part course that further develops skills learnt on our IT for the Workplace course using Microsoft packages and adapting them to workplace situations. Successful completion of both part 1 and part 2 will give you the IT Software Fundamentals qualification accredited by OCN West Midlands.


IT for the Workplace

Entry / Level 1

This course will take students through the IT skills needed for gaining employment. Developing basic skills in all the Microsoft packages including ‘Word’, ‘Excel’ and ‘PowerPoint’. Learn how to do this with a click of the mouse.


Beginner ICT

Entry 3

The ideal course for complete beginners.  Students will understand the terms used and become more familiar with how to use computers. Students will learn the basics and improve your confidence.


IT User - ITQ Award

Level 3  Non residential.

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to use IT tools for more complex and non-routine activities as well as being in a position to offer some support and guidance to others using computers based on the higher level knowledge and skills they will have learnt on this course. This is an ideal course for people who already have some knowledge and skills of computers and are either seeking employment or progression within employment.
