Part-Time Residential at the College 

As well as learning about the vital interpersonal skills for the workplace such as interview essentials, CV writing and team working, you will have the opportunity to find out more about areas of work that are currently in demand for employers.

This course is a starter course for those who have an interest in working within health and social care and want to pursue a career working in an environment where you can have a positive impact on your customers and colleagues.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Develop your understanding of the health and social care environment
  • Identify and plan strategies for overcoming barriers to the workplace and to further learning.
  • Recognise and develop a range of skills required to work within health and social care.
  • Search and apply for jobs using up to date application processes

You will create an impressive portfolio demonstrating your abilities in the areas of:

  • Applying for Work
  • Interview Skills
  • Attributes and qualities
  • Personal development within Healthcare

Full awards at level 2 or below cost from £0-£60 depending on your income

Entry Requirements 

  • At Level 1, no formal entry qualifications are required.
  • All applicants will undergo an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy.
  • Places will be offered following a satisfactory interview.
  • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area
  • Receive and retain information
  • Produce written material and contribute to discussions to get the most out of this learning experience.


Level 1 


Once you have completed the course you will be able to progress onto seeking employment in health and social care. You can also continue studying and progressing onto our Level 2 "Step Up to Succeed: Health and Social Care course.

Meet your Tutor 


I have been a tutor for a number of years and I am extremely passionate about teaching, learning and personal development. I will provide an excellent learning experience where you will learn both the theory and practical’s of working within health and social care.  The health and social care sector has been particularly challenged recently and I will be giving an insight into what health and social care employers are looking for in candidates and how to apply for jobs in the sector.
