This course is an introduction to how the food we eat nourishes or harms our bodies.  You will explore the different nutrients, vitamins and minerals in food and how they impact our health. You will also consider how eating an unbalanced diet can have an impact on health, for example, high blood pressure and diabetes. You will also look at the importance of food packaging and the information it tells us as well as looking at calorific measurements.

Level 2 

Entry Requirements 

You must be working at a level 1 or above in literacy.  

Learning Outcomes 

Learners will achieve a level 2 City and Guilds qualification.

This course will include a live cooking demonstration by Fircroft’s catering team

You will also cover the following.

  1. Understand the key groups used to categorise nutrients found in food
  2. Understand the impact that nutrition has upon maintaining health
  3. Know how to identify the nutritional value of food
