Two college staff are profiled in the summer edition of inTuition. It’s the professional journal for teachers and trainers who are members of the Society for Education and Training (SET)

Mandy Gutsell (Tutor for personal and social development) is profiled for leading the SET Local Network Group in Birmingham. She says “It is all about connecting, working together, collaborating and creating ideas together”. Her next network event on 18th July focuses on Social Justice which is the college’s mission.

Michael Conway-Jones (Vice Principal) is profiled as a fellow of the Society. He curated SET’s Research Supplement last year. “This opened my eyes to the need for practitioner research and the resources which support it. This year I have been researching citizenship and will present my first academic paper in July”.

Fircroft is one of the few colleges to offer free SET membership to all its teaching staff. We’re not big enough to run a CPD programme with enough options to meet everyone’s individual needs. But SET membership  lets tutors take control of their own development and build a personalised programme using SET resources and networks

If you have membership to the magazine, you can read the feature here.
