Our Partnerships
We have a wide range of referral partners across the West Midlands region. The relationship we have with our partners is invaluable to the college and we have huge respect for the fantastic work they do with their clients to help get them to the place they want to be. It is our pleasure to work together with our partners to improve people’s quality of life and help them to achieve and progress.
We always welcome contact from new partners and we would be happy to talk to anyone who thinks their service-users who live in the West Midlands county, might benefit from being a student at the college. Once you have registered your interest in working with us we can offer you:
- Access to our monthly partner and student newsletter
- Access to our Open Days at the college and the opportunity to accompany clients if required
- The possibility of holding an Open Day session just for you and your colleagues, at the college to find out more about us
- Access to a member of the outreach team who will be happy to attend one of your team meetings (at your office or online) to discuss how the college can assist your clients
- Regular updates by email about new courses
- An invitation to events we hold at the college or online

Who this conference is for
This one day event is for tutors and other professionals working in Further/Adult education, who want to move from good intentions to sustainable change. The event is for people working in colleges and adult ed settings, who are interested in what’s happening with climate change and the new skills, understanding and knowledge needed, to adapt.
Details
Our Green Skills Tutor Conference is led and co-designed by the #GreenChangemakers from Fircroft College Teacher Training Programme and shaped by AimHi Earth’s ’15 Green Skills’.
This will help tutors and other adult education staff, to find their way in a world where most people want to do something but are petrified by #ecoanxiety. By the end of the day, you’ll be a #GreenChangemaker too. Join the movement!
Green Changemaking is a game-changer, shifting those good intentions to sustainable change and aligning practice to strategy:
🌱 everyone knows what they are doing to further #GreenSkills
🌱 systems are aligned to the common purpose of Climate Justice
🌱 the value of ‘green’ (however you express it) is baked into every action, decision and process

About the course
Please note that teachers across *all* curriculum areas are invited. We love our biologists and engineers but we need all specialisms involved to make this work.
We have recruited our #GreenChangemakers who are leading the drive to transform mindset, culture, strategy and systems around Green Skills across West Midlands and Warwickshire FE.
Now – if we’re serious about change – we need the teachers. Changemaking energy will run out of steam if teachers aren’t integrating Green Skills into their subject areas because what matters is not what we do, but the impact on students’ working lives, families and communities.
We are recruiting 240 FE teachers from every part of the sector to join our one-day Train the Green Skills Trainers course. The course is completely free and held in the beautiful surroundings of Fircroft College.
This intensive, practical and focused experience will equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to work confidently with the latest knowledge around Green Skills in their daily practice. Supported by the Green Changemakers learners, it will create a virtual hub of Green Skills teachers, to sustainably inform up-to-date practice.
Making full use of the indoor and outdoor space at Fircroft College, teachers will:
- Explore the ’15 Green Skills, Clearly Explained’ framework for practice.
- Co-curate a subject-specific Green Skills resource bank.
- Prepare and present a Green Skills plan for their subject area.
- Contribute to subject-specific communities of practice.
