This qualification is a great opportunity for you to explore your creative abilities and is designed for anyone who wishes to develop their skills and knowledge in creative crafts. You will learn new techniques in creative crafts alongside developing your drawing skills and knowledge of the creative industries. The course will work through two design briefs which will involve developing your initial ideas and producing your final craft items within a sustainability agenda. 

The course is ideal for you if you are looking to further your qualifications or work in this field and have a strong interest in creative crafts.  Ideally you also need to have time outside the class to develop your own work during the course.  

About the course

Working to design briefs you will cover the following units of study.  You will work at your own pace to create a number of craft items which you will display in a final exhibition at the college:

  1. Working with materials and equipment
  2. Investigate enterprise and employment opportunities within the creative craft fields
  3. Develop design ideas
  4. Create, present and evaluate your final craft items

The final work will be assessed through an exhibition at the college alongside worksheets and a log book.

Learning will take place through two design briefs incorporating new skills in creative crafts including print making and textiles. Materials and equipment will be provided and there will be opportunities to work outside and use Fircroft’s unique environment and grounds including the outdoor classroom. 

Entry Requirements

This course is appropriate for anyone who is working at Level 1 and has a particular interest in creative crafts.

You need to have a basic level of education, working at level at least Entry Level 3/Level 1 in English

Accreditation

This is an NCFE certificated qualification that enables progression.

Progression

This qualification can help you to progress to a Level 3 qualification, help you to explore the possibility of starting your own business or creative enterprise or look for employment opportunities within the creative field.
