From the very beginning of your learning journey, we can help you explore your options, develop your skills, and take confident steps towards achieving your goals.

Before your Course:

  • Our experienced Admissions team will talk with you to make sure Fircroft is the right fit and that we can meet your needs. This may include initial English and Maths assessments.
  • They will offer clear information, advice and guidance to help you choose the most suitable course or pathway.
  • They will explain what you’ll learn and how the course can support your personal or career development.
  • They will discuss fees (if any apply) and explore available funding options.
  • You will receive support through the application process and as you prepare to join us.

During your Course:

During your time at Fircroft, you will have access to careers guidance from our Careers and Progression Coordinator.

Depending on the type of course you choose, you can expect:

  • One‑to‑one careers advice tailored to your goals.
  • Group workshops on CV writing, interview skills, apprenticeships, volunteering and more.
  • Support with UCAS applications, personal statements and student finance.
  • In‑class activities designed to build the skills employers value.
  • Up‑to‑date careers information, including insights into the local job market.
  • Personalised action plans to help you stay on track with your goals.
  • An inclusive, accessible service that promotes equality, diversity and additional learning support.
  • Online resources to help you boost your employability at your own pace, including our Careers Hub (look below!).
  • Careers events featuring guest speakers and interactive employer stands, including our Skills for Aspiring Support Workers Partner Day (link to story)
  • Signposting to external services, including financial support and help with funding applications.

After your Course:

After completing your course, you will receive ongoing support from our Careers and Progression Coordinator to monitor your progress, explore next steps, and celebrate your achievements.

Further Support:

Your Tutors and Learning Support staff will be with you every step of the way. They’ll talk with you regularly about your progress, your aspirations and the direction you want your learning to take.

Fircroft College Careers Hub

Our Fircroft College Careers Hub is an online careers and progression hub available to both current learners and alumni. It provides access to a wide range of resources, including job and volunteering opportunities, training and higher education information, careers advice, CV and application support, and employability resources. You can access the Careers Hub using the password you were given when you started at the College, meaning that all the resources and support available to you during your studies remain available after you complete your course, helping you to continue your progression journey.
