This course is designed to introduce you to the use of the outdoors to improve your health and wellbeing. You will learn outdoor skills and information but you will also find out how these things can help to improve how you feel.

Level

Level 1

This course is designed to introduce you to the use of the outdoors to improve your health and wellbeing, you will learn outdoor skills and information but you will also find out how these can help to improve how you feel. Reconnecting with your natural environment is scientifically proven to improve health, we will do some gardening together, you will learn about the nature around your local area and also some mindfulness and relaxation exercises which work really well outdoors.

Come and explore our 6 acres of grounds and discover the benefits of being outdoors.

During this course you will learn:

  • Basic knowledge about the nature that surrounds you,
  • Hints and tips on using gardening to relax you
  • How to be more mindful in nature

All learners enrolling on 2026/27 courses will use laptops, tablets and other digital technology as part of their learning

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Entry-Level 3 in Literacy, or above

As part of your course, you will receive careers support to help you think about your next steps and future goals.
This includes:

  • Online access to our Careers and Progression Hub through our website
  • A printed and online Careers and Progression Resource Pack, including information and guidance on:
    • different job sectors and career pathways
    • searching and applying for jobs
    • writing a professional CV
    • interview preparation and tips
  • Invitations to lunchtime careers workshops on Tuesdays or Fridays
  • Career focused enrichment sessions every month
  • The opportunity to attend drop-in sessions with our Careers and Progression Coordinator for personalised support, advice, and guidance around your goals and plans
