This course is ideal for you if you have a particular interest in history, social issues and current affairs. It is also a good taster course for you if you are applying for one of our Access to Higher Education diplomas starting in September.

The course explores:

  • What brought different communities to Britain and where communities have settled
  • The trends in immigration from 1945 to present day
  • Who has come to Britain, when did they arrive and why did they come?
  • How immigration has changed the population make-up of Britain today

You will also gain an understanding of:

  • The main trends in immigration from 1945 to present day
  • Some of the ‘push’ and ‘pull’ factors affecting immigration
  • Legislation which has helped to bring communities  to the UK
  • The changing make up of British society

Entry Requirements

You must be working at literacy Level 1, or above
