The course is a level 3 certificate intended for people currently working, or looking to work, in the IT industry:

  1. The principles of ICT systems and data security 
  2. Requirements analysis and systems specification 

Unit 1 shows us the basic principles of ICT systems about how they run as well as data security measures they are able to implement. 

Unit 2 helps us understand the hardware and software development lifecycle used in industry for projects. 

Key learning within this course: 

  • Planning for customer requirements 
  • Creating design specifications 
  • Implementing software lifecycle procedures 
  • understanding the principles of ICT and data security methods and techniques used. 

You will be required to successfully demonstrate your achievements by portfolio assignments of all learning outcomes of the units as detailed in this qualification specification.

Entry Requirements

You must be working at IT Level 2. If you do not already possess an IT Level 2 qualification you will be given an appropriate assessment prior to joining.

You must be working at Level 1 Literacy

This course is not for absolute beginners in IT. Basic familiarity with IT is required along with a knowledge of general digital devices and how to use software, although training will be provided in IT skills used at work, such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation of spreadsheets, web searching, social media, online interaction and online safety.

Progression

Once you have achieved this qualification you could progress to employment as a Digital Support Technician, a Digital Applications Technician or another similar role where you can use the skills you have learnt.
