The course is for those who are thinking about how to move forward with positivity in their lives, as well as for those who are considering psychology as an area of study for the future.

Level

Level 1

This course focuses on ideas and theories from psychology that help us to understand what makes a positive and fulfilling life. We will look at the different factors that contribute to positivity and explore concepts such as motivation, self-compassion and habit formation. We will work together to explore ideas in detail and reflect on how learning from this area of psychology can be applied to everyday life.

The course includes group activities applying learning to example scenarios. Short tasks exploring mindfulness techniques will be part of the course, as well as discussions and individual written and visual tasks to develop understanding of new ideas.

You will learn the following:

  • Understand key terms in positive psychology
  • Understand aspects of motivation
  • Understand the role of self-compassion in positive psychology
  • Understand growth mindset

All learners enrolling on 2026/27 courses will use laptops, tablets and other digital technology as part of their learning

Entry Requirements

You must be working at Entry-Level 3 in Literacy, or above
