Returning to learning, perhaps after many years, can be a daunting prospect and it is important to us that you feel supported, cared about and recognised as a unique individual.
Information, advice and guidance is a big part of the enrolment process onto all of our courses and forms part of every student’s learning journey with us. After receiving a course application we will contact you to discuss why you want to do the course, what their future ambitions are and their plans to achieve their ultimate goal.
You are encouraged to focus on your goals throughout your time at the college and often as you achieve and progress, your goals might change. Formal and informal Information, advice and guidance is embedded in all our interactions with you – in the classroom; discussions with our Admissions team; sessions with our Learning Support Assistants and conversations with your fellow students. We help our students to realise that what might have seemed impossible in the past, could actually be possible in the future.
We aim to hold formal Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) discussions with you, after every 4 courses (if you choose to complete 4 courses) to check you feel you are on the right path to completing your learning journey at the college, how you feel you have progressed so far and your overall learning experience with us.
We are regularly assessed by the Matrix Standard which is a recognised quality assessment of how information, advice and guidance is offered. Our latest successful Matrix Inspection was in 2024.
“I can’t thank Fircroft enough. You’ve helped change my life for the better. I was in a bad place when I went to Fircroft and gaining the qualification I did really boosted me. I’ve been able to create opportunities for myself that I didn’t think were possible. What you do there is incredible”
