Fircroft Foundations for New Communities to Digital Skills
Before joining Fircroft, Musa had little knowledge about the college or the opportunities it offered. He regularly visited the British Red Cross, where he was introduced to Fircroft College and its Fircroft Foundations for New Communities course. During a recruitment visit by Fircroft staff, Musa learned more about the programmes available, completed the Language Check assessment, and showed strong motivation to begin his learning journey.
Why Fircroft?
Musa’s first encounter with Fircroft came through support at the British Red Cross. After discovering the college’s courses and supportive environment, he felt encouraged to attend. The Fircroft Foundations for New Communities course caught his attention, and from the start, he demonstrated passion and commitment to developing his skills and education.
Course Experience
Musa describes his experience at Fircroft as transformational. Through the courses he studied, he has gained new knowledge, skills, and confidence. He has learned much more about British culture and developed a clearer perspective on his life choices and future path. He has strengthened his motivation to progress further academically and professionally. His time at Fircroft has helped him become more focused and determined to build a strong future for himself.
Impact and Outcomes
Following his first course, Musa then went on to study and complete Digital Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 at Fircroft, enhancing his IT skills for further study and everyday life.
Musa highlights several aspects of Fircroft that made his experience positive. He particularly enjoyed the calm and supportive residential environment and the access to valuable learning resources such as the library and IT rooms. Musa appreciated the warm and welcoming nature of staff and fellow students and how extra learning opportunities were available through enrichment sessions in the evenings. Musa feels these elements helped him thrive both personally and educationally.
Advice for Future Students
Musa says confidently that “Fircroft is the way forward.” He encourages potential students to consider Fircroft because it enhances knowledge, it provides access to helpful learning and helps build your confidence and get on the “right track” in life. His message is clear that Fircroft offers opportunities that can change lives.

Looking ahead, Musa hopes to progress into higher education, and eventually build a meaningful career in Law and Human Rights.
