Fircroft College offers a unique experience where adults live and learn in a friendly, attractive and supportive environment.

The college occupies a former Cadbury family home set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Founded in 1909, Fircroft was created to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. This ethos of social justice, combined with academic excellence, continues to this day. Ofsted judged Fircroft to be an ‘outstanding college’ in 2007 and the college was awarded Beacon Status in 2008.

As Fircroft is a residential college, learners are able to ‘get away from it all', so they can focus on achieving personal and career goals.

Choose from a range of courses

Students at Fircroft can choose from the following types of courses:

  • Progression Pathway courses are aimed at learners with few or no formal qualifications, who wish to return to learning, improve their confidence and reach their true potential.

These are mostly three day short courses, many of which are FREE.

  • Professional courses for the Voluntary Sector support voluntary and community organisations to work effectively and fulfil their purpose and mission, as well as adding to and developing the expertise of staff/volunteers and trustees. These are mostly three day short courses, some of which are combined into longer programmes.

  • Access to HE is a FREE full-time 30 week programme for students who wish to go to University, but who do not have the qualifications to do so. Unlike other courses at Fircroft, there are some non-residential as well as residential places available.
