I found out about Fircroft by searching for local courses on the internet and came to the college because I wanted to achieve a qualification that would help me to become a hairdressing lecturer.  Being able to achieve the Award in Education and Training in just 3 weekends was especially appealing, as well as studying in such a relaxing and supportive environment.

As well as obtaining the Award in Education and Training I also studied the Principles and Practices of Assessment at Fircroft because being able to assess students’ progress is really essential as a tutor.

Fircroft has helped me by providing me with qualified and experienced tutors that gave me the necessary support and knowledge to complete the two Awards.  I now have the confidence to continue to pursue a long-life dream of teaching and hairdressing and I now have a better understanding of what is required to assess, teach and successfully support future students in completing their desired course and I am very excited about it.

Take a look at our next AET course starting 15th September 2023 here

I was really pleased with the residential experience I had and would encourage other people to attend.  Fircroft is a clean, safe place to stay and it has beautiful gardens.  The kitchen staff where always willing to help and provided a range of delicious healthy food.  I was later advised that some of the vegetables on offer were grown on site.  All my tutors had a way of making the entire learning experience one to remember and I am so pleased I signed up to both courses.  I found it very easy to learn from them regardless of how complicated I thought it would be at the start, and they tailored lessons to meet our individual learning needs.   I was a little nervous to start off with but so pleased I completed both courses as I know attending Fircroft has helped me in becoming qualified in my chosen field.  The other students on both courses were amazing and I am so pleased that I had a chance to study with them.

I loved how all members of staff at Fircroft who were welcoming and willing to help make my first experience staying away from my family so enjoyable that I am in the process of looking for another course that will support me in my new career as a hairdressing lecturer.  All my tutors were willing to share their knowledge and made learning fun whilst I was still meeting all the necessary requirements. Non-teaching staff I had the pleasure of meeting between lessons were welcoming and would always find a way to encourage me or just displayed ways of how to be kind. I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone for solidifying my decision of a career change and I will continue to speak to people about my experiences at Fircroft.  Attending Fircroft has been life changing and I will be forever grateful.
